Summed Up in Two Sentences

Paul explained the process of how believers are to order their behavior in his letter to the Colossian Believers. He makes this process plain to read and understand. (#1) “As you have therefore received Christ Jesus as Lord, so walk ye in Him: rooted and built up in Him, and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving” (Col. 2:6). This is how we are to think in regard to receiving any aspect of redemption. What Paul said is a simple statement, and yet because of it’s simplicity, for some it is difficult to understand.

Paul also explains the reason this process is The Solution. (#2) “You are complete in Him” (Col. 2:10). The answer for any problem that concerns redemption from sin or demonic powers is found “in Him”. Believers do not need to turn anywhere else than to their Savior and Redeemer. He is The Way, The Truth and The Life (John 14:6). If we will turn to Him, and Him alone, then we will experience the deliverance of our God!

What makes it hard to understand, is how easy the process is to live for God. But the process had to be that easily accessible so that even a child could do it. This is The Message that confounds the “wise” (1 Cor. 1:19-2:7). “For the preaching of The Cross is to them who perish foolishness; but unto us which ARE saved it is the Power of God” (1 Cor. 1:18). This is The Gospel! After first experiencing redemption, Believers can become deceived by fine-sounding arguments, philosophy, human traditions and the basic principles of this world that tells us we have to do more than Believe and keep All of our Faith in Christ (Col. 2:8). But, it really is that simple. What about going to church, bible reading and prayer? Aren’t these things important? YES!!!!! But, don’t think that because you DO those things you will automatically have power over sin and the powers of darkness. You desperately need to read and study the Bible, pray and come together with other Believers for edification. But don’t think that because you do those things, then God will automatically grant you grace and power. You cannot DO anything to access any aspect of redemption, but exercise Faith in The Cross of Christ. Prayer and Bible study are tools to use that help remind us to keep all our Faith in Jesus and the work He did for us at The Cross. But Redemption doesn’t come by reading or studying the Bible. If that was the case, Cain and Able would have been given text books to study and instructed “how to” and “how much” to pray their sins away. Instead, they were to offer a sacrifice and trust in that sacrifice (a type of Christ) to gain them redemption and relationship with God. Pretty simple, yet Cain refused to have Faith in God’s Way and brought his own sacrifice. What sacrifice do you have your Faith in? The fruit of your labor, or the innnocent Lamb of God?

By Believing The Message the Bible proclaims, we experience redemption. As we keep Believing The Message the Bible proclaims, we continue to experience redemption. Redemption is only found through Faith in Jesus’ blood and righteousness. Redemption comes by Faith alone, and Faith comes by hearing the Word of God (Rom.10:8,17). So read and study the Bible. But remember, you have to Believe The Message of the Bible in order to receive redemption, not just read it’s words or hear them (James 1:22-25). What we “do” doesn’t effect receiving the benefits of what Jesus Christ has already done for us. What we Believe He did allows grace to flow freely, just like it did when we were born again. To experience continued redemption, all we have to do is follow the same process we did when we were initially redeemed from the penalty and power of sin. If you will keep living by that same Faith, the power of the Holy Spirit will work on transforming you from the inside out. You won’t have to “work” at transforming yourself. You just have to be obedient to yield your life and body to Christ Jesus daily, and then walk led by His Spirit. Jesus already did the work for your redemption (Col. 2:13-15). God doesn’t want you to redeem yourself, He knows you can’t. Stop trying to be your own deliverer (Rom. 10:5-8). God, who already made you a new creation, will continue to mold you into the image of His Son and bring about His right way of living if you will trust in His Process. Your job is to submit all of yourself and your life to Him everyday and not trust in your own strength to be victorious over sin and the Devil. You submit, rest in His completed work and allow the Holy Spirit to change you from the inside out. He will give you joy unspeakable, and full of glory! Don’t be shocked that many would rather believe in another process to overcome sin and bondages in their lives, THAN CHRIST and HIS WAY alone. People, by nature, want to follow any number of man-made steps or “laws” to gain their freedom. But I hope you will just Believe The Truth and trust the Holy Spirit will bring this freedom into your daily life (Rom. 8:2-4,11). Jesus did The Work so we can receive the benefits. Access is available to all by Faith!
